HIDING & SEEKING

MONDAY AUGUST 10 2009 Matthew 14

TEXT: http://www.audiotreasure.com/mp3/Matthew/Matt14.mp3

MESSAGE Jesus miracles make Herod think that despite beheading John the Baptist he has been raised from the dead. In response to Herod more miracles of healing and feeding are done by Jesus out of compassion for the people; the disciples confess and worship Jesus as the Son of God after witnessing him walk on water and calm the storm; and many more believe in Jesus and are healed by just touching his clothing.

TEACHING Like Herod, we can try to get rid of something that reminds of one sin by committing another, only to have both come back to haunt us. Instead of sin arising and guilting us throughout life, unlike Herod, we don’t have to confuse John the Baptist returning from the dead with Jesus Christ, the living compassionate Son of God who has the power to heal, feed, and calm us.

HEALING Our Father, forgive us for our sins-the ones we have committed and the ones we have committed to hide the ones we have committed. In mercy we ask you to take away our guilt and any haunting memories for anything wrong we have done in our life. Give us this day your Son’s response to Herod when he murdered John the Baptist to hide his sin. Heal our mind, body and soul. Let us reach out and touch your Son' cloak in a meaningful way in our live's today, let us feel it in our hands. Let us experience your Son today, as the miraculous bread of life that sustains us. And, we also ask that you help us to touch someone else and help to sustain them today in your Son's Name. We ask you to call us to come to you in all these ways without fear and doubt and with great thanksgiving. In Jesus Name, Amen.
